Reconnect with Nature – 5 Tips! When I’ve been to Egypt a few years ago I met a guy and talked to him for a little while. I was watching him for a few minutes before I started to approach to him. He was all alone on a boat bow and was looking on the… Weiterlesen Reconnect with Nature – 5 Tips

#whomademyclothes (2) . Continuation of the previous post #whomademyclothes (1)! . In the previous post we talked in detail about the hashtag and the initiative. . Now we want to share with you some tips how you can make lifestyle changes that really matter: . 👉 Buy Less! Quality rather than quantity „Buy less, choose well, make it last. Quality rather than quantity. That is true sustainability.“ Cause every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world YOU want. . 👉 #haulternative Try the #haulternative challenge — refresh your wardrobe without buying new clothes by shopping secondhand, swapping with a friend, and DIY customisation. (Asmaas scarf and top is e.g. from an #clothswapping event). . 👉 Ask questions! Ask brands, retailers and manufacturers, #whomademyclothes on Instagram, Twitter or by e-mail. . 👉 Fall in love with your Ex-clothes! Instead of shopping for new clothes, fall back in love with the clothes you already own. . And again: „Buy less, choose well, make it last. Quality rather than quantity. That is true sustainability.“ . Tag for our next blogpost your favorite sustainable brands (not just fashion brands but either conscious brands for furniture, food etc.)! . #greenukum #slowfashion #greendeen #whomademyclothes #sustainablechic #sustainablity #nature #eco #greenquote #bethechange #muslimcouple #hijabers #hijabfashion #hijabi #ethicallyengaged #fairtrade #ethical #buylesschoosewell #fairfashion #greenfashion #ecoandfair #handmade #ethicalfashionblogger #ethicallymade #crueltyfree #ecofriendly #sustainableliving #khalifa
#whomademyclothes (1) Who made my clothes? Is the slogan of the #fashionrevolution movement, calling a fairer, safer, cleaner and more transparent fashion industry! There were triggered by the @RanaPlaza tragedy of April 2013, where over 1,100 garment workers in Bangladesh were killed and over 2,200 more were wounded. The incident left consumers all over the world questioning who makes the clothes we wear every day and in what kind of conditions? So have you ever wondered who made YOUR clothes? How much they’re paid, and what their lives are like? Much of the global fashion industry can be exploitative and environmentally damaging and desperately needs revolutionary change. But it’s not only the industry itself, that needs to change. How WE think about and consume clothing also needs to change! • "As consumers OUR questions, OUR voices, OUR shopping habits can have the power to help change things for the better! We are the driver of trends. Every time we buy something, we’re voting with our wallet. When we speak, brands and governments listen" quote: fashionrevolution website So will you get involved? #ethicallyengaged ________________________ #greenukum #slowfashion #greendeen #whomademyclothes #sustainablechic #sustainablity #nature #eco #greenquote #bethechange #ethicallyengaged #fairtrade #ethical #buylesschoosewell #fairfashion #greenfashion #ecoandfair #handmade #ethicalfashionblogger #ethicallymade #crueltyfree #ecofriendly #sustainableliving #khalifa
Using Ramadan to reconnect with yourself, with family, friends and with nature! When did you last spend time entirely surrounded by nature? Without phones, emails, WhatsApp? As humans we have a special connection to nature, and Islam strengthens this connection. Whether discussing about the beginning of Ramadan (and if the moon was visible) because as Muslims you’re following the lunar calendar, whether you’re doing your ablution with water for prayer or even prostrate on earth. Yet we now spend most time not realizing, how nature affect us in all of this, it’s time to go out and reconnect with nature! It not only makes us feel better emotionally, but also contributes to our physical wellbeing. Much more reduce heart rate and blood pressure. All this just by spending some time in nature. So go out an refresh your sense, and feed your soul with nature. Here are some tips: 👉Go for a walk! Take some time and plan it – do a little research for enjoyable and nature-filled walks in your area. Keep your attention in the present and observe! Use your senses: see, smell and feel nature! 👉Grow something! Pot up a herb plant, sow some seeds or plant a fruit tree. Make the growing process more enjoyable by choosing to grow something you use regularly or love to eat or cook with. (Thanks to by blossoms at larne for this!) Remember as well the prophet Muhammad saying: “If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah) for him.” 👉Pick local grown food! The way we consume food doesn’t help us feel connected with how its produced. This leads to us becoming more alienated from our environment and the natural processes that surround us. By foraging for something that grows wild you can instantly feel a strong connection to the earth. This kind of rediscovering and reconnecting with the sacredness of nature as it is describes in Quran. The combination of reestablishing our link with nature’s ecology and a deeper God-consciousness (tawhid) fosters a heightened awareness of God as creator. So try it! 💚 pic: @nabila_bushra_
Reducing the amount of trash at home is one thing. To reduce this amount when your leave your comfy home space to travel, is much more complicated. Therefore it’s necessary to have some must-haves in your tavel packing-list. So here is a list of our eco-travel must-haves, you can use them maybe as an inspiration for your next travel! 👉🏽Reusable water bottle This is an obvious one when traveling to countries with potable tap water 👉🏽 Cloth napkin & Cloth bag You can use them as well to wrap up sandwiches and snacks rather than reaching for a plastic bag 👉🏽Refillable toiletries Homemade deodorant and cremes , tin of lip balm etc. 👉🏽Reusable Container To avoid over-packaged and prohibitively expensive food, we’re always having some snacks (dried fruit, nuts from home in reusable containers) 👉🏽Collapsible Food Container We love our collapsible food container, as we can use it for take-away-food or leftovers. Happy International worker’s day! . . . In solidarity with all the workers of the world who are unnoticed, undervalued, overworked and underpaid, for all those being exploited for profit every day! May we pray for all those workers! And may we stand up and use our voices and power to fight for social justice! . . . Remember, God is saying (Hadith Quds): “O my servants! I [God) have forbidden injustice to Myself and have forbidden that for you as well, then do not commit injustice to each other.” . . . #greenukum #greendeen #ecoblog #workerday #labourday #empowerment #mayday #socialjustice #injustice #justice #quran #koran #muslim #muslima #muslimquote #Allah #aya #work #slowfashion #exploitation #eco #standup #empower #quoteoftheday
Its #earthday2018! So Happy Earth Day – everyday! It’s all about treating our planet with kindness and justice and sharing it with all living beings with love 💚 Walk softly and with peace on the earth to protect this beautiful planet! @worldwaterday2018 ...and still more than 2.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water! . . . On the occasion of the #worldwaterday, which serves as a reminder of the importance of working together as a global community to protect and preserve our critical aquatic resources, some facts: Did you know, that: 👉 1 in 10 - lack access to safe water. 👉 1 in 3 - lack access to a toilet. 👉 The poorest households are more likely to have access to mobile phones than to toilets or safe water. 👉 4600 liters are needed for one beef steak. Water is a human right! Rather – it should be a right for every (!) living being – this aspect has become so far little attention. The Islamic right of thirst’ (haq al shurb) and therefore the right to water is an Islamic given aspect. Did you know for example that the Ottoman Civil Code includes that everyone –animals involve! – have a right of thirst from public and private rivers? Remember God saying in the Quran (mentoring animals first!): "... and We send down purifying water from the sky, that we may give life thereby to a dead land, and We give many beasts and men that We had created to drink thereof ..." [25:48-49]. Water is provided by God, "... for you and your cattle" [79:33] Let us all raise awareness for this issue: “We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.” . . . #greenukum #greendeen #deen #sustainablestyle #sustainable #eco #ecological #gogreen #water #wecare #muslimcouple #instacouple #muslima #hijab #hijabers #ecoliving #savewater #saveearth #savetrees #trees #quran #spirituality #nature #ocean #safewater #quotes #quoteoftheday #instaquotes #drop4drop
People may mistakenly believe that they have to make grand, life-altering changes to make a difference. This can lead to frustration and disappointment. But true change begins with a series of small steps starting by ourselves— little things you do everyday can make an impact. Small steps turn into daily occurrences and daily occurrences turns to change. So to know the world, first know yourself. To change the world, first change yourself! This will be the first step! Everything else will come 💚 ‘Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.’ (Qur’an, 13:11) #greenukum #greenquote #greendeen #instaquote #quran #rumi #wisewords #eco #muslimblogger #qutoe #sufi #surat #bethechange #change #reflect #khalifa #quoteoftheday #greenbloggers
"Eco warriors don't fly?" Since we both have (and love) to travel a lot (to visit family, for work etc.), it's not easy to avoid flying. But air travel emits as much carbon as 136 cars, at more than 650m tonnes per year! With this on the conscience, no wonder people look so miserable at airports! So it's true: We're not perfect in this. Far from it! But let's face it, to tell people to stop flying is not viable. Instead, we should focus on doing it at least in a 'greener' way. One possibility therefore is to offset your flight emissions (mean that you calculate your flight's CO₂ footprint and offset the costs in renewable energy projects etc.). Some people would say: these kind of donating is nothing else then assuage your feelings of guilt! But it’s more: it’s kind of making yourself and other aware for the impact of flying for the environment, supporting sustainable ideas and more. In fact the idea behind offsetting is just like recycling: "Reduce, reuse, recycle". Same hierarchy you should consider when your planning to fly: Don't fly, fly with the most efficient airline (always in economy), then offset. So check efficiency first (using Atmosfair's airline ranking for example. Air France comes top). In short, #avoid (choose the train or bus for example for short distances), #reduce (Instead of traveling frequently for short periods of time, opt for fewer trips for longer periods of time) and if you have to, try to #offset. That's the way we use! How do you handle it? . . . #greenukum #atmosfair #airpollution #travelgramm #flying #o2 #offset #rethink #reduce #myclimate #muslimblogger #greendeen #travel #lessismore #nature #sky #morocco #muslimtravel #savetheplanet #ecotravel #greentravel
